The guided tour of the ancient village of Resina has been carefully designed to show visitors a different view of the town of Ercolano: the medieval centre.

The ancient village of Resina, one of the oldest medieval villages in Italy, was built above the buried city of ancient Herculaneum. The presence of Resina is certified since 121 AD, when the small town was marked on a map of the Hadrian period, reported later in the so-called Peutingeriana Table.

Characterized by narrow streets, small squares and houses perched one on top of the other, the village of Resina is famous worldwide for the flea market, which takes place daily. Among the colorful stalls and the famous "montoni" (piles) of the market, you can get old clothes from all over the world spending just a little money.

Our guided tour starts from the ancient Pugliano's Church, a basilica complex dating from the early second millennium (1050) and then it will continue along the second-hand market, reaching the so-called Golden Mile, a long street which is flanked by beautiful eighteenth-century villas, passing through the ruins of the buried old city of Herculaneum, which can be seen from above.

The guided tour of Resina can be combined with the afternoon visit to the archaeological excavations of the ancient city of Herculaneum.
