The city of Benevento and its surroundings are very well known for the Sannio gastronomy: extra-virgin olive oil, fresh handmade pasta, beef, sheep and pork, cheese, honey, fruit, walnuts and chestnuts.
Vineyards are among the most important of the entire region, but the name of the town of Benevento is linked with a special yellow liquor, known as "Strega" (The Witch) and the Torrone, a dessert made with honey and hazelnuts.
After a brief tour of the town, which includes the Cathedral, the Trajan Arch, the Roman Theatre and the Santa Sofia Church, you will enjoy a visit to Benevento's best known main wine cellars where it is possible to taste the most important wines produced into this area along with food specialities of the region.
